Escalante Petrified Forest State Park campground has 22 single-family campsites overlooking the 130-acre Wide Hollow Reservoir in beautiful southern Utah. Six of the sites have electric hookups (A, C, D, 20, 21 and 22). Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring, grate and shade structure. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers and a sanitary dump station. Cell service is poor in the area.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, picnicking, horseback riding, mountain bike riding, OHV riding and wildlife viewing. There are also a few nice slot canyons in the area to explore. The Visitor Center also has exhibits where you can learn about plant and marine fossils, petrified wood and fossilized dinosaur bones over 100 million years old.
Kodachrome Basin State Park is about 40 miles to the west. You may also be interested in Deer Creek or Calf Creek campgrounds.
