Fruita Campground is the only developed campground in Capitol Reef National Park. It has 71 campsites and is next to the Fremont River and surrounded by historic orchards. It is open year round and takes camping reservations from March 1 through October 31.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (28 to 52 feet). Seven of the campsites are tent only / walk-in. Group camping is also available.
The sites do not have individual water, but there is a table water fill station near the entrance. The campground also has drinking water, flush toilets (no showers), trash collection and an RV dump station. Cell service is not available.
Capital Reef National Park is a great place to explore on foot or on you mountain bike. There are lots of trails to explore areas like Cohab Canyon, Chimney Rock, the Goosenecks and Cassidy Arch.
You may also want to check out Goblin Valley State Park. It’s about 57 miles away and has 25 campsites. Other campgrounds in the area include Singletree (with group sites), Pine Lake (54 miles away) and Lower Bowns.

This developed campground has 71 campsites. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring (except sites 7, 48 and 50, which only have an above ground grill). There is a RV dump and potable water fill station near the entrance to Per NPR website: “Loops A and B. Campsites have no individual water or sewage hookups. There are no electrical hookups available. Restrooms have running water and flush toilets, but no showers. Accessible campsites are located adjacent to restrooms.”
