Hamburger Rock has 10 single-family campsites located at the base of the unusual red sandstone monolith in Bears Ears National Monument. It is also close to Canyonlands National Park Needles District.
The remote/primitive campground is open year-round and located north off the Needles Highway (accessed from Utah State Route 211), approximately 3 miles southeast of Canyonlands National Park and 17 miles northwest of Newspaper Rock. Amenities include a vault toilet (about 1/4 mile from the campground). Water and trash collection are not provided. Cell service is also not available.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. There’s little shade, but a few sites have some shade from small juniper trees and others by Hamburger Rock. Campsites 2-5 have the best wind protection with nice views of the surrounding area. Sites 6-10 are best for sunset views.
Other campgrounds in the area include Superbowl and Creek Pasture Campground.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, OHV trail riding, horseback riding, stargazing, photography and wildlife viewing.
