Horsethief Campground Utah
Horsethief Overview
Horsethief Campground is located close to Dead Horse State Park and the Island in the Sky area of Canyonlands National Park. The campground has 83 single-family campsites tucked among a pinyon-juniper forest on the mesas above Moab. All single-family campsites are first-come, first-serve. There are also 5 group campsites that can be reserved (tent only, no trailers or RVs). The single-family campsites can accommodate up to 10 people and the group sites up to 20 people.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. However, campsites 1-27 (Dapple Loop) are tent only. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. There are no hookups. Campground amenities include vault toilets. No water is available at the campground.
Horsethief Campground – Area Recreation & Activities
The area has many OHV and mountain biking trails nearby. Other activities include hiking, scenic tours, photography, stargazing, picnicking and wildlife viewing. You can also visit nearby Canyonlands National Park (Island in the Sky) and Dead Horse State park.
Other campgrounds in the area include Island in the Sky (Willow Flat), Lone Mesa Group and Cowboy.
