Island in the Sky (Willow Flat) Overview

Island in the Sky (Willow Flat) Campground has 12 campsites and is located near the spectacular Green River Overlook in Canyonlands National Park. All campsites are first-come, first-served and fill up quickly spring through fall. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 28 feet). Up to 10 people and 2 vehicles are allowed per campsite.  Generators may operate only between 8am and 10 am, or between 4pm and 8pm.

Campground amenities include vault toilets. There is no water at the campground, but you can get drinking water outside the visitor center spring through fall. Overflow parking is also available at the campground. Cell service is not available in the area.

The Needles District campground is also located within the park.

Island in the Sky (Willow Flat) – Area Recreation and Activities

The area offers some beautiful hiking trails and photography. It’s also popular are for stargazing and picnicking.

Other campgrounds in the are include Horsethief Campground and Cowboy Campground.
