Lava Point Campground has 6 primitive campsites in a beautiful and secluded area of Zion National Park. The campground is usually open early May through September and is about 1 hour 20 minutes to drive to the South Entrance of Zion Canyon.
Campsites must be reserved in advance and are on a 2-week rolling window. Campground amenities include vault toilets and trash cans. Water is not available. Campsites are for tent camping and vehicles longer than 19 feet are not permitted on the road to the campground. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Cell service is poor in the area.
Other campgrounds at Zion National Park include South and Watchman.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes hiking, stargazing, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Barney’s Trail leaves from the campground and provides access to Lava Point Overlook and the West Rim Trail. Lava Point Overlook is also about 1/4 mile drive from the campground.
