Nizhoni Campground is in a remote area of the Manti-La Sal National Forest at an elevation of 7,802 feet. There are 28 spacious single-family campsites (21 reservable) and two group sites (up to 50 campers each). All have great views of the Abajo mountains.
The campground is an excellent area for stargazing, as well as observing a variety of wildlife. It is usually open late May to late October. Amenities include drinking water, fault toilets and trash collection. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (29 to 53 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Cell service is very poor in the area.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes hiking, mountain biking, ATVing, hunting, stargazing, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
Devils Canyon Campground is about 20 miles away, and Natural Bridges National Monument is about 54 miles.
