Rainbow Park Campground Dinosaur National Monument Utah

Rainbow Park Overview

Rainbow Park is a remote campground located 28 miles from the Quarry Visitor Center and on the banks of the Green River. The primitive campground is open year-round (weather and roads permitting), but there is not winter maintenance on the unpaved road.

The campground  has 4 walk-to (tent-only) campsites. The walk ranges from 50 to 100 feet from the parking area. All are first-come, first-serve. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Food storage lockers are also available. There is no water, but it does have vault toilets. Trash collection is available May through September. Cell service is not available in the area.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes rafting, kayaking, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, stargazing and wildlife viewing.

Dinosaur National Monument covers over 210,000 acres.  You can see over 1,500 dinosaur fossils still in the rock inside the Quarry Exhibit Hall. There are miles of trails for hiking and cross-country travel. Whitewater rafting (permit required) is also popular on the Green and Yampa Rivers. Numerous cultural sites reveal stories of the people who lived here before and include Fremont petroglyphs, homestead cabins and former ranches. Hiking trails allow in-depth exploration. Several roads provide access to key destinations and scenic sites. Scenic drives allow the windshield visitor to see spectacular geology.
