Sand Flats Recreation Area Group camping includes 2 in Echo loop and 4 in Datura loop. Both have great views of the surrounding rock domes and mountains. All group sites accommodate up to 16 people. Datrua 1, 2, 4 and Echo E-1 have parking for six passenger cars, 2-3 RVs and 2-3 trucks with campers.  Datura 3 and Echo E-10 group sites have smaller parking areas (4 cars, 1 RV and 1 camper with trailer). Each group campsite has a table, shade structure, fire ring and grate. Vault toilets are nearby. Water or hookups are not available. Cell service is good in the area.

Area Recreation & Activities

The area features a high plain of colorful slick rock domes, bowls and fins. Visitors can also see the 13,000 foot peaks of the La Sal Mountains. The world-famous Slickrock and Porcupine Rim bike trails and almost 40 miles of jeep trails offer a unique combination of challenge and awesome scenery. Other activities include hiking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Single-family campsites are available at Bobcat loop and other areas of Sand Flats.
