Upper Onion Creek Overview
Upper Onion Creek Campground has 14 single-family campsites and is located in a beautiful area of the Colorado River Basin with views of Fisher Towers and Castle Valley. This peaceful campground is about 2.5 miles from the Colorado River.
Campsites are spaced out an relatively large. Sites 8-11 are walk-to. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. Amenities include vault toilets, but no drinking water.
Upper Onion Creek Group campsites (A & B) are also available and can be reserved.
Area Recreation & Activities
Outdoor recreation in the area includes OHVing, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, rafting, kayaking, fishing, picnicking, stargazing and wildlife viewing. A boat ramp is also available down at Lower Onion Creek Campground. There is direct access to the Onion Creek four-wheel drive road. And if you’re into hiking, be sure to also work in a hike on the Fisher Towers trail. The town of Moab is about 40 minutes away and has dining, shopping, sports rentals, tour companies and museums.
Other campgrounds in the area include Lower Onion Creek and Fisher Towers.
