James River State Park campground has 86 campsites and is located along the James River in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Campsites include 31 standard electric, 20 tent only, 1 bunkhouse, 16 cabins, 13 canoe/primitive camps, 1 group site, 21 horse camps and 2 lodges.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, laundry facilities, trash collection and a dump station. There’s also a camp store/gift shop, boat launch, picnic areas and nature center.
James River State Park – Area Recreation & Info
Outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, horseback riding, hiking, biking and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also nice in the area.
