Lake Anna State Park campground has 46 campsites (23 with water & electric) and is located a short distance from the lake in wooded area. There are also 6 camp cabins, 10 cabins and a bunkhouse. Campsites are suitable for tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, lantern holder, fire ring and grate.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers and a dump station. The park also has a nice swimming beach, playground, food concession stand, boat ramp, miles of mixed-use trails and a few picnic areas.
The land in Lake Anna State Park used to be known as “Gold Hill” and contained the Goodwin Gold Mine. Legend has it that in the 1830s a few rogue miners hid some gold over on Jetts Island, which wasn’t an island back in the day. The island is across from Picnic Area B. If you decide to go look for buried treasure, be sure to tell the Ranger if you find any.
Other adventures and recreation in the area include boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, water sports, hiking, biking, horseback riding and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also nice here. During the summer, the visitor center has interpretive programs on the nature and history of the area.
