Pocahontas State Park campground is close to Swift Creek Lake and has 132 single-family campsites, 4 yurts, 6 cabins and 6 group sites. Approximately 60 sites are reservable and the others are first-come, first-serve. The popular campground is also just 20 miles from Richmond.
All campsites have electric and water hookups (no sewer), grills, picnic tables and lantern holders. The campground has drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers and a dump station. The park also has an aquatic center (with an Olympic size swimming pool), snack bar, camp store, boat ramp, visitor center, dining hall, playground and picnic areas.
Covering 7,950 acres, Pocahontas State Park is the largest in Virginia. The Park offers a variety of outdoor activities, including biking, hiking, picnicking, horseback riding, swimming, camping, music concerts and family-friendly nature programs. Swift Creek Lake and Beaver Lake give visitors a chance for excellent wildlife viewing and fishing. The park is also a nice base camp to visit nearby Civil War Battlefields and other attractions.
