Staunton River State Park campground is located on the shoreline of Buggs Island Lake at the convergence of the Dan and Staunton (Roanoke) Rivers. There are 48 single-family campsites, 8 cabins, 1 bunkhouse and 13 equestrian campsites. About half of the campsites are reservable and the rest are first-come, first-serve.

The single family campsites all have water & electric hookups, a table, fire ring, grate and lantern post. Site sizes range from 13 feet (standard tent) to 45 feet.  Each equestrian campsite has water & electric hookups, a stall, lantern post, table, fire ring and grate.

Each cabin has a refrigerator, stove, coffeemaker, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, microwave oven and a toaster in the kitchen area. Linens are also provided. Each cabin also has a fireplace, but AC and heat are available. Bedrooms have a bedlam nightstand and clock radio.
Rustic furniture, a sofa and dinning table are in the living area. The outside has an outdoor fire pit, picnic tables, charcoal grills and decks with patio furniture.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, laundry, showers, a camp store and RV dump station. There’s also a playground, gift shop, swimming pool and boat launch ramp.

Staunton River State Park – Area Recreation

Campers and visitors will enjoy a variety of outdoor activities including fishing and water sports on Virginia’s largest lake, taking a dip in the swimming pool, fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, picnicking, and hiking. Wildlife viewing is also nice here.
