Kamloops Island Campground has 17 campsites and is located at the mouth of the Kettle River as it enters the Columbia River. Trees and vegetation provide shade to most campsites. Many sites also offer views of the river and surrounding landscape.

Campsites 1-8 can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each has a parking spur (ranging in size from 23 to 38 feet), table, fire ring and grill. Campsites 9-17 are tent only camping and require a walk of about 100 feet from the parking area to reach the cluster of tent campsites. Each of the tent sites also has a table, fire ring and grill.

Amenities include vault toilets, trash collection and a dock. Drinking water is not available.  Cell service is good in the area.

Other campgrounds in the area include Kettle River, Marcus Island, Snag Cove, Evans Campground, Kettle Falls and Haag Cove.

Kamloops Island Campground – Area Recreation and Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

The historic St. Paul’s Mission, which is run by the National Park Service, is located about 4.5 miles south of the campground in the town of Kettle Falls. Also in the area are Fort Colville and the Hudson Bay Company Post on the Upper Columbia. St. Paul’s Mission. Sherman drive, a scenic loop, is nearby.
