Larrabee State Park campground is located next to beautiful Samish Bay and has 77 reservable campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. There are 51 standard tent sites, 26 full hookup site (up to 60 feet) and 8 primitive (first-come first-serve) sites. The campground has drinking water, vault toilets, flush toilets, showers($) and a dump station. FYI – there is a train track that runs through the park and west of the campground.
Larrabee State Park Area Recreation
Larrabee State Park is a 2,683-acre camping park with 8,100 feet of saltwater shoreline on Samish Bay near Bellingham in Northwest Washington. The park features two freshwater lakes, coves and tidelands. There are also a few day-use picnic areas, amphitheater and boat ramp.
In addition to camping, visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, sail boarding, water sports, exploring tide pools, crabbing, clamming, scuba diving, metal detecting. There’s also some nice wildlife viewing here.
Bay View State Park is another nice option with views of the bay and camping. It’s about 15 miles from Larrabee State Park. The campground has 76 campsites.

We stayed here August 2015 in our 24′ Chinook Destiny. There are trains that run constantly through the park, and the website does warn of that. We didn’t think the noise was too bad, but we had the benefit of being in an RV and not a tent. Signs also warn of raccoons, but we didn’t see any. That said, this is a beautiful location overall. Hiking out to and relaxing on the rocks over the bay is great. A hike up to Fragrance Lake is fun. The Bellingham Interurban Trail runs through the park (you’ll need a mountain bike) and we rode it all the way into south Bellingham. Tidepool exploration is also a must here. Notable wildlife was great blue herons, hermit crabs, anemones, and purple sea stars (starfish!)
As a local, we like to go to specific camping sites within the park systems. We can’t very well make reservations without knowing in advance if that site is already spoken for. Please provide the campsites, with site numbers and amenities available. They already exist so we know they are available. The are some instances where we need an ADA compliant campsite, yet we have no idea which that one might be with the information provided.
