Newhalem Creek Campground has 107 single-family campsites and is located next to the Skagit River in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Group camping is also available. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Most have nice privacy and are set in a dense forest. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets and a dump station. There’s also an amphitheater, picnic area, visitor center rand food storage lockers. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Cell service is fair in the area depending on your location.
The Skagit River is the largest river that flows into the Puget Sound area and provides critical habitat for all species of Pacific salmon; there is a salmon-viewing station located near the group campsites. Outdoor recreation includes fishing, kayaking, rafting, tubing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and exploring historic sites. Wildlife viewing is really good here with opportunities to see bear, a variety of bird species and other forest critters. The town of Newhalem is also nearby should you need any supplies or a break from camp food.
Other campgrounds in the area include Gorge Lake, Colonial Creek South, Colonial Creek North and Goodell Creek.
