Shaw County Park Campground has 11 wooded campsites next to beautiful Indian Cove on Shaw Island, one of the San Juan Islands. The 60-acre park and campground is an easy two mile ferry ride from Friday Harbor. All campsites have views of the water. Hammock tents are allowed only in campsites 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 10. Reservations are accepted April 1 through October 31, and are first-come first-serve November 1 – March 31.
Due to the small size of Shaw Park, RVs or trailers are not advised. Vehicles up to 20 feet in length and 9 feet in height are okay in the designated parking space for each campsite.
Campground amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grill. The park also has picnic facilities and a boat launch. Campers can stock up on last-minute food and supplies at the general store located at the ferry landing. You may want to bring firewood because it’s not always available at the park office.
Other nearby campgrounds (ferry boat needed) include Odlin County Park (Lopez Island) and San Juan County Fairgrounds (San Juan Island).
Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, biking, swimming, water sports and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also great in the area.
