Seneca Shadows Campground Monongahela National Forest West Virginia

Seneca Shadows Overview

Seneca Shadows Campground has 80 campsites in a mixed hardwood forest with view of Seneca Rocks.  The North Fork South Branch Potomac River is also nearby.

Campsites 1-25 (in loops A and B) are standard sites (no hook-ups) and sites 26-38 (loop C) have electric hook-ups. Campsites 41-80 are walk-to (tent only) sites and there are also 3 group campsites (D, E and F). The group sites will accommodate up to 40 people per site.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets and trash collection. Each campsite has a table, lantern post, fire ring and grill. Parking spurs range in size from 25 to 90 feet but most are 25 feet. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is not available in the area.

Other campgrounds with an hour include Big Meadows (55 miles), Loft Mountain (55 miles) and Mathews Arm (59 miles) in Shenandoah National Park.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing (catch & release), picnicking and wildlife viewing. Seneca Shadows is a convenient base camp while traveling through the Potomac Highlands. Explore the scenic roadways, especially when fall colors are at their peak.
