New Fork Lake Campground is located next to New Fork Lake, among a grove of aspens at an elevation of 7,850 feet. The campground has 15 single-family campsites (first-come first-serve), and 1 reservable group campsite.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 30 feet). Each single-family campsite also has a parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. The group campsite is in a grassy meadow and can accommodate up to 150 people. It also has picnic and serving tables, grills, two bear boxes (food storage lockers) and 2 vault toilets. Potable (drinking) water is not available in the campground. Trash/garbage service is located just outside the group site. Cell service is poor.
Other campgrounds in the general area include Narrows, Willow Lake, Trails End, Whiskey Grove, Fremont Lake and Half Moon Lake.
The 1,070-acre New Fork Lake offers great boating, canoeing and swimming. Anglers fish for kokanee salmon and brook, lake and rainbow trout. A large cement boat ramp is also located a mile and a half from the campground, at the lake’s northwestern shore. Other activities include hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
New Fork Trail begins at the entrance to the neighboring Narrows Campground (2.5 miles away). The trail provides back country access through New Fork Canyon into the Bridger Wilderness. It also connects to several other trails. Horse corrals are also located at the trailhead.
