Tie City campground has 18 single-family campsites that are close to the South Fork of Lodepole Creek. Some of the campsites are nestled in a forest of aspen, fir and spruce. Other sites are in an open/grassy meadow. The campground was named for the railroad men who cut the ties for the Union Pacific Railroad from this forest.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and small RVs. Keep in mind that the interior road is a bit narrow and rough in some places. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. Amenities include vault toilets, but no water. Horse corrals are also available for equestrian campers. Firewood is also available for purchase from the camp host. The campground is generally open from early June to early November, depending on weather. Cell service is good in the area.
Outdoor recreation in the are includes fishing, hunting, hiking, horseback riding, OHV trail riding, climbing, picnicking and wildlife viewing. There’s also a great network of challenging mountain bike trails in the area.
