Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Overview

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is a California State Park and is located within the Colorado Desert of Southern California.  The Park encompasses some of the most diverse desert landscape in the world and covers more than 600,000 acres. Visitors can enjoy desert gardens, beautiful wildflowers in the spring, slot canyons and rugged landscape.

Outdoor recreation includes camping, hiking, biking, OHV trail riding, horseback riding, photography, picnicking, stargazing and wildlife viewing. Many visitors also come to the park to experience the ephemeral wildflower bloom each spring.

Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Camping

Developed campgrounds include Borrego Palm Canyon (52 hookups, 65 standard and 8 group), Tamarisk Grove (campsites and cabins), Bow Willow (16 sites) and Vern Whitaker Horse Camp (10 sites for equestrian campers). Other primitive campgrounds include Culp Valley, Sheep Canyon (6 developed sites/vault toilets), Arroyo Salado, Yaqui Pass, Yaqui Well, Fish Creek (6 sites and vault toilet), Blair Valley, Mt. Palm Springs and Pegleg Area.   Backpackers can also camp anywhere in the entire backcounty (except cultural preserves).
