Blackwater River State Forest Overview
Blackwater River State Forest is one of the largest State Forests in Florida. The river flows to the north in Alabama and meanders approximately 30 miles southwestward through the forest into Blackwater Bay. Blackwater River is also one of the few shifting sand bottom streams that remains in its natural state for nearly its entire length.
Blackwater River State Forest Recreation & Activities
Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also great in the area.
Campgrounds in the State Forest include Bear Lake, Hurricane Lake North, Hurricane Lake South, Krul Lake, Coldwater Equestrian, Karick Lake North and Karick Lane South.
