Folsom Lake State Recreation Area Overview

Folsom Lake State Recreation Area is located at the base of the Sierra foothills about 25 miles east of Sacramento, CA.  Both Folsom Lake and Lake Natoma within the 19,500 acre recreation area.

There are 4 campgrounds including Beals Point(69 sites), Peninsula (100 sites), Back Miners Group (3 sites) and Granite Bay (with 15 primitive sites).  Campground amenities include drinking water, vault and flush toilets, showers, rash collection and RV dump stations. The SRA also has a marina, boat ramps, boat trailer lot, bike paths, equestrian trails, swim beach and picnic areas. The Sacramento State Aquatic Center also offers boat rentals and boating safety classes.

Outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, wind surfing, sailing, water sports, swimming, horseback riding, hiking, biking and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also good in the area.

The park has multiple entrances most of which are fairly easily accessed by either Interstate 80 to Douglas Blvd.(east), or Highway 50 to Hazel Ave., or Folsom Blvd., (north).
