Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forest Overview

Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests in Mesa, Delta and Garfield Counties in Western Colorado. It borders the White River National Forest to the north and the Gunnison National Forest to the east.

GMUG is home to over 3 million acres–from plateaus to peaks. Visitors can also enjoy over 3,500 miles of trails, 4 scenic byways, 5 peaks over 14,000 feet, 10 wilderness areas and 3,600 miles of perennial streams.

Outdoor recreation and activities include camping, boating, fishing, hiking, backpacking, mountain climbing, OHV trail riding, mountain biking, hunting, stargazing, picnicking and wildlife viewing. There are also many cultural and historic sites to explore. Winter activities include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.
