Kerr Lake State Recreation Area Overview

Kerr Lake State Recreation Area has 8 access areas around the shoreline of the 50000 acre reservoir at North Carolina’s north-central border with Virginia.

Campers can choose from seven campground and hundreds of campsites to enjoy a serene night by the lake. All access areas provide at least one boat ramp, offering access to one of the best fishing lakes in the eastern United States.

Amenities include boat launch ramps, trailer parking lots,  amphitheater, picnic areas/shelters, visitor centers, swim beaches, bathhouses, restrooms (flush toilets), showers, dump stations, trash collection, camp hosts and playgrounds.

A privately owned marina at Satterwhite Point offers fuel, slips, dry stack storage, service, and supplies. Another privately owned marina at Hibernia also offers fuel, slips, and supplies, as well as boat, paddleboard, and kayak rentals. A 54-site private campground is also located at this marina.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Hookups are available at most campgrounds.  Group camping is also available.
