Mt. San Jacinto State Park Overview

Mt. San Jacinto State Park is located in Southern California and encompasses about 30,000 acres of wilderness area including desert scrub to oak woodlands and a sub-alpine environment at the peak (10,834). The Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument are also located within the park.

Camping

The park has two developed campgrounds including the Idyllwild Campground (34 campsites) and Stone Creek Campground (50 campsites).

Idyllwild Campground is in the town and within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. It also has full hook-up and electric hookup campsites, flush toilets, and coin-operated showers.

The Stone Creek Campground is located about 5 miles north of Idyllwild on Highway 243. It also offers electric  hookup campsites (no full hook-ups). It’s a bit more primitive with vault toilets and no shower facilities.

Other developed campgrounds in the area include: Dark Canyon (17 campsites), Fern Basin (24 campsites) and Marion Mountain (24 campsites).

The Park headquarters, wilderness camping and hiking permits are available at the Idyllwild Ranger Station.
