Pinnacles National Park Overview

Pinnacles National Park is located 32 miles south of Hollister, California. The park encompasses 26,000 acres of spectacular rock formations and remnants of an extinct 23 million-year old volcano.

There is an east and west entrance to the park. Pinnacles Campground is located at the east entrance and is the only place to camp. It has 134 campsites (36 with electric hookups), group camping, a swimming pool, picnic area, visitor center/camp store, water, flush toilets and showers. There’s also a picnic area next to the campground.

Area Recreation & Activities

Pinnacles National park has over 30 miles of hiking trails. Popular destinations include Bear Gulch Reservoir, High Peaks and the Balconies area. There are also two caves you can explore. Balconies and Bear Gulch caves are talus caves created when boulders formed a roof over a narrow canyon. Rock Climbing is another popular activity. Other activities include biking, birding, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
