Found this place and have gone back several times, love it , we go during week when its not so crowded. Its a small park so its nice and quiet , and can be booked for the weekend, has a little water park for kids, no store but has ice, we always get site by the water, great fishing, has 2 boat lauchs and fishing pier too. lots of shaded sites, don’t swim in lake there ARE alligators in there. Air planes fly by all during day , (by airport ) but quiet at night. 1 bath house, which is clean , hot water takes a few seconds to get hot but works great! also shopping places , restaurants , and the beach not far away! theres a great little restaurant just up the road , that will deliver to your camp site!. they have great food and awesome malts, like lemon ice box pie . Check out their web site, can book on line and see sites available.
We were in the front on site 5 and it was nice. A lot of space between campers. If you go to the back on near the water or the new section there is a lot more people and boat action. If I had to say one thing I don’t like is they let people that are not camping come in and launch their boats which makes it more crowded than it should be.
We haven’t camped here yet but we have visited on day pass several times and this is a great campground
It has been several years since I last camped at McLeod Park. I was pleasantly surprised by all the campground upgrades. Three new bath/restroom facilities were added making for a total of four facilities. Additional sites were added along the river and most campsites have new concrete pads and driveways. An amphitheater was also a pleasant surprise. One of my favorite campgrounds for walking along waterways with beautiful views. For a serene time away from the routine of regular day-to-day activities, this is definitely a gem.
