Ashurst Lake Campground Arizona

Ashurst Lake Overview

Ashurst Lake 013

Ashurst Lake Campground has about 25 campsites on the shore of Ashurst Lake and is located in the Coconino National Forest in a remote area of Northern Arizona.  The campsites are not numbered and are mostly good for tent/car camping. A few will work for small RVs and trailers. The campground is primitive and reached on a 4 mile gravel road (Forest Road 82E). Each campsite has a table and fire ring. Drinking water is available in large tanks and there are vault toilets. There is a boat ramp for small boats. The campground is open year round – weather/road conditions permitting. Cell services is not available in the area.

Ashurst Lake – Area Recreation

The area is remote and beautiful, offering great views of the San Francisco mountains. Fishing at the lake is usually excellent when it isn’t too windy. Other outdoor activities include OHV riding, hunting, hiking, mountain biking and wildlife viewing.

  2. Dennis Chavez says:

I am 65 and have been fishing and camping this lake for as long as I can remember. Why this campground has never been redone like those in the Kaibab forest is a shame, Those bathrooms have been there since I was a kid? 2 bathrooms that work for the whole lake what gives? not to mention the road.

  3. Clydena Jackson says:

My family had fun camping and fishing here. In fact, I’d take my family back any time. This place has a lot of beautiful memories. Thank you

  4. I have been fishing this lake for 54 yrs. Love it. Use to be ankle to ice fish there. Now they close the road all winter. Wish I could post the picture of the 7 lb Brown I caught last season. Bummer that Fish and Game has cut the limit to 4 trout this year.
