Almanor South Overview

Almanor South Campground has 53 campsites and offers direct access to the spectacular Lake Almanor in the Lassen National Forest. The campground is located on the west shore of Lake Almanor at 4,450 feet and about 12 miles from the town of Chester, California.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite also has a table, food locker, fire ring and grill. No hookups are available.  Several sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground has vault toilets and drinking water. Group camping is also available.

Outdoor recreation includes boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, picnicking and mountain biking. There’s also some nice wildlife viewing opportunities in the area.

Greenville Campground is also nearby and has 17 campsites.
