Crags Overview
Crags campground has 46 campsites and is located 10 miles from Bridgeport and close to the Twin Lakes Area in the Sierra Nevada. One group campsite is also available. The campground offers great fishing at nearby Robinson Creek and spectacular views of the Sawtooth Ridge towering at over 10,500 feet. Reservations are available mid May to early September, and first-come, first-served during the off season (late April to mid May and early September to late October).
The campground has two loops – Matterhorn (closer to Robinson Creek) has first-come, first-serve campsites and Sawtooth has reservable campsites. Matterhorn sites 4 and 18 are walk-to (tent only) sites. Sawtooth campsites 15, 22, 25 and 26 are double sites (2 vehicles and up to 12 people allowed).
Campground amenities include drinking water and flush toilets. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite also has a paved parking spur, table, food storage locker, fire ring and grate.
Crags – Area Recreation
The area is popular for fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also great here.
Other campgrounds in the area include Robinson Creek, Honeymoon Flat, Paha and Lower Twin Lakes.

Does anyone know if you can reserve sites on the matterhorn loop at Crags Campground? Or is it First Come? Thank you

Matterhorn Loop (closer to Robinson Creek) has first-come, first-serve campsites and the Sawtooth Loop has reservable campsites.

You should be one of the first in line for first-come, first-serve campsites (starting July 19th), since you have a reserved campsite July 18th. I recommend walking the campground the afternoon/evening of July 18th to see which first-come, first-serve campsites will open on July 19th. Hopefully there will be some that become available for you.

We know that generally there is a 14 day limit stay. My question is does this hold true for double or triple sites where the second camper or third camper begins their stay after the first camper takes the site. In other words, is the second camper entitled to occupy the double or triple site for 14 days after their arrival if they take over and being paying for the site? If so, would the first camper be able to stay a few more days after they had been there 14 days.
I know the idea of a 14 day limit is to allow others to have a chance for sites and prevent people homesteading a camp site. But in a double where a camper comes in week after the first camper, that site would occupied and not open to a stranger anyway. Thank you for your time and considering this question/comment.

If a particular campground (like Crags) has a 14-day limit stay per campsite – that 14-day limit is for the original reservation holder. The 14-day limit is valid on any type of campsite (single, double or triple, unless otherwise noted in the campground rules). The original reservation holder can designate another person on the reservation and that person can continue staying at the site should the original reservation holder leave. The campsite must be continuously occupied. If vacated (no people/equipment/vehicles, etc.), the camp host/ranger will (probably) tag it as available and placed back in the reservation pool.

A second camper joins the first camper after 10 nights. The second camper puts the site in their name and pays for 7 nights. Can the first camper stay in the double through the end of the second camper’s 7 night paid stay?

That sounds like it may work, but I recommend calling the campground/ranger’s district office to confirm: 760 932-7092.

We will be in Site 13 in the Sawtooth Loop. Does this site have a hook up for water for an RV? If not, is there a place in the Campground where we can fill with water? THANK YOU!

Campsite #13 or any of the other sites do not have water hookups. There is potable (drinking) water at the campground, but not sure if you are allowed to fill up your RV/trailer water tank.
Site 26 Sawtooth is listed and billed as a “double.” Does this mean two RVs may occupy it? Thanks

You can have up to two vehicles – including 2 RVs (40 feet max each), and up to 12 people in Sawtooth campsite #26.
