The campground provides easy access to miles of hiking and excellent mountain biking trails. Wildlife viewing opportunities include deer, bobcat, coyote, pheasant, quail, hawks, and a variety of other creatures. There’s also the occasional rattlesnake (usually appearing from May through October).  You can also hike back down to beautiful Moro Beach (access via a tunnel under the Pacific Coast Highway), and enjoy swimming, surfing, snorkeling, beach combing and sunbathing. There’s also some good marine wildlife viewing here too.

The two other backcountry / primitive campgrounds are Lower Moro and Deer Canyon.  Moro campground is also located in the park (trailers and RVs only).  Crystal Cove State Park Historic District is also just a few miles up the coast.
