Goose Meadows campground has 24 campsites along the Truckee River and adjacent to Highway 89 in the Tahoe National Forest. There are two separate loops in the campground (with 2 separate entrances from the highway). Loop 1 has sites 1-13. The campground is all gravel, but is sheltered from Highway 89 by about 100-200 yards of forest. Loop 2 has sites 14-24.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 37 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Campground amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and food storage lockers. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host.

The campground offers a nice base-camp for exploring Truckee and Tahoe City.Fishing is excellent from the banks of the Truckee River.  Other outdoor recreation in the area includes rafting, kayaking, tubbing, swimming, mountain biking, hiking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The campground is also centrally located to spend a day visiting Stampede Reservoir, Boca Reservoir, Squaw Valley or Lake Tahoe.

Other campgrounds in the area include Donner Memorial State Park, Granite Flat and Silver Creek (Truckee).
