  1. Margaret says:

I had not been in Huntington area for about 3 years—–i was so disappointed with the condition of the area—-there were so many piles of junk, dilapidated cabins and trailers. Example at the restaurant there was old equipment to view as peopl sat on porch—-my first thought was there is a drug problem in the area. I would never think about camping or buying real estate in that area

  2. patricia hemann says:

Does campsite 54 have hook ups for a trailer? (water/electric)
Is there any paper forms that I need to bring with me? I reserved this spot a couple weeks ago for memorial day weekend.

    thank you

    • Hi Patricia,

Rancheria campground does not have hookups (water/electric) for any of its campsites (including campsite 54). The Park Ranger should have your reservation information at check in, but it’s always best to bring a copy of your reservation receipt. You can visit http://www.recreation.gov to get a copy of your reservation.

  3. I know Rancheria campground does not have shower facilities, but are there any in the nearby campgrounds or marina area?

    • Hi Janee,

Unfortunately none of the campgrounds close to Rancheria campground have showers. We’re not if the Marina has public showers, but you may want to give the Marina a call to double check: 559-326-6687.

  4. Hello, why is this campground closed and when will it reopen? I would like to make reservations for next August.
    Thank you
    Marnie

    • Hi Marnie,

The Rancheria campground is still closed (as of Aug 13, 2019) for public safety reasons. The area is experiencing a high a level of “tree mortality” and the Forest Service is in the process of cleaning up the dead trees and limbs. Once that is complete, it will be reopened. No reopen date has been set yet.

  5. Beatriz Briseno says:

    Is your campground open?

  6. Mar Vaquero says:

Will the campground be open in September? I’m about to make a reservation for the weekend of September 10th. I see that all campsites are available but the website says that some campground areas are not accesible due to tree removal efforts. Thank you!

  7. Allen S says:

I have a rooftop tent on my pickup. Is that ok for a tent only site? -Thanks

  8. I site #65 fairly level?

    • Hi Rick,
Campsite #65 has a slight grade from the camp road but it levels off pretty good about where the table is located. It can handle and RV or trailer up to 42 feet long.

  9. Matt Eggleston says:

Any insight on site 75? We are tent camping with a large 10 person tent. We had another site reserved for months and it was canceled 10 days before we were supposed to be there due to “Tree Hazards”. We were able to grab another site, site 75, interested to know what to expect if possible.

    • Hi Matt,
Campsite #75 is a nice one. It is level and has a large area for a tent behind the fire pit. Not sure the dimensions of your 10-person tent, but I’d estimate the ‘tent area’ is about 20×20 feet.

  10. We have reserved the Jeffery Pine Group, Loop: Area Rancheria site. It says “tents only” camping and 6 cars allowed. Are we allowed to bring a small RV under 21 feet and park on this site? The RV is not larger than a normal pick up truck. Is that allowed?

    • Hi Saelina,
Typically it is okay, if the “small” RV fits in to one of the parking spaces. However, the final call comes from the camp host and/or ranger. Some stick the the letter of the law and others are friendlier. Although a long shot, you may try calling the phone number for the campground and see if you can get someone to pick up and ask: 559 893-2111

    • Hi Saelina, how did this work out? We have a reservation for a different group site and I have the same question.
