Refugio State Beach Comments & Reviews
Visited Refugio State Beach Campground lately? We'd love to hear about your adventure. Did you find us useful? Did we forget something? Anything our community should know before heading out to Refugio State Beach?
This is the beach I remember as a child and young teenager! We loved this beach and came every year for many years! The pictures of it bring back some great memories!
I am a 60 year old woman. When I was between the ages of 5-10, my parents took me to Refugio, weekend after weekend. It is still my favorite beach in California. It is so pristine!
I’m 55, going on 56. When I was 7 years old, my family moved to Refugio Beach. We lived there, 4 years. I played n the garage, and on the beach. My brother and I stopped there, just a year ago, June. It’s appeared to be more popular, than years prior. Wish, I could see inside the house.
I cannot tell from my reservation if campsite 4 allows an RV? Can you please let me know.
Hi Lisa,
Yes – you can park an RV in campsite #4. The pad length is 30 feet. You can have up to 3 vehicles and 8 people in that campsite.
hi. my van is 19.5 ft but a little over 20 with spare tire. ok in site #15?
Hi Dean,
The parking pad length is 20 feet with some overhang off the back so you’ll be fine in campsite #15. Have a great time at Refugio State Beach!
What is the longest Rv allowed and what is the space number? Thank you in advance
Hi Jesus,
The maximum trailer or RV length allowed at Refugio State Beach is 30 feet. You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button to check availability, sizes of each site, pricing and make reservations.
I have been going to Refugio since I was born. I would walk up and down the beach with my old friends and me and my dad would make burgers every night for a whole week defiantly my favorite
Hi Tallulah,
Thanks for sharing your memories of Refugio State Beach. Sounds like you had many nice times there. It is a special place!
I was wondering if there are hook-ups at this campground? If so, what are the space #’s? Thank you
Hi Gina,
Refugio State Beach Campground does not have hookups. The campground does have water, flush toilets, showers, trash collection and a camp store.
I was wondering if you can put more than one trailer on a standard (non-group) campsite, or a motorhome and a trailer?
Hi Angel,
Three vehicles maximum are allowed per campsite at Refugio State Beach. Camping Fees include entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle or trailer, additional vehicles will be charged per night at the park.
We have reservations for site 58. We have a 26’ fifth wheel. Do we have room for a additional tent?
Hi Mary,
Your 26′ fifth wheel and towing vehicle will definitely fit in campsite #58 but I’m not sure if you’ll have room for a tent. You might be able to fit a smaller sized tent over by the fire ring and/or (perhaps) the rear of the site (if the neighbors behind you are okay with it).
Hi all, I will be staying at site #25 soon. Is there room for 2 cars and a small 4×8 trailer?
Hi Jairo,
Yes there is room for two cars and your 4×8 trailer in campsite #25, and it is okay to have up to 3 vehicles (2 cars and your trailer) and 8 people. Have a great time!
Hi there! What campsite is best for tent only camping at Refugio?
Planning to bring my family next spring. Thanks in advance!
Hi Julio,
You can pitch a tent (camp) at any of the campsites. If you’re a Pro Member you can view our list of best campsites, but here are a few (from the list) that would be great – close to beach: 24, 25, 26, 31, 33, 34, 35, 60, 61. Site 52 is also great with nice shade. Remember to try and reserve these sites as soon as reservations become available for the dates you want to camp because they will get booked quickly. Have a great time!
