Other campgrounds in the area (within 90 minutes) include MacKerricher State Park, Russian Gulch State Park, Standish-Hickery SRA, Richardson Grove State Park and Benbow Lake SRA. If you’re into wilderness camping you might also check out Sinkyone Wilderess State Park to the north.

Westport-Union Landing State Beach – Area Recreation & Activities

The park was named for two early day communities. Westport, a sawmill town, is still in existence and Union Landing now consists of only a few buildings. Both of these settlements were famous for supplying lumber, railroad ties, and Tan Oak bark to the schooners which anchored offshore. The schooners were loaded with forest products by means of intricate cable tramways and chutes from the bluffs.

Outdoor recreation in the area includes surf fishing, beach coming, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
