William Heise County Park Comments & Reviews
Visited William Heise County Park Campground lately? We'd love to hear about your adventure. Did you find us useful? Did we forget something? Anything our community should know before heading out to William Heise County Park?
Are dogs allowed
Hi Pam,
Yes dogs/pets are allowed at William Heise County Park, but must be on a leash.
Are any of the camping cabins pet friendly?
Hi Sharon, Sorry, pets are not allowed in any of the cabins at William Heise County Park.
I am trying to make a reservation for the Group Campsite Area 1 for July 9- 14, but cannot find where to do it on this website. I have a group of Camp Fire Counselor in Training teens (19 of them) plus 3 adult leaders.
Hi Carol, You can click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button and that will direct you to the County of San Diego Park & Rec reservation page. I checked though and for your dates either it is already taken, or not showing up in their reservation system for some reason. You can also call them at: 877-565-3600
I see on available campground sites it says “8 people max, 1 tent max.” Is this really the case? I have a group of 3 but we like to split into 2 very small 2-person backpacking tents. Would 2 small tents be allowed at the same site?
The campsites certainly have room for more than one tent. Not sure if it is a Covid restriction or not. You may try calling the park directly to confirm: 760-765-0650.
I, too, am having trouble navigating to Group Camp Site. How many can be in the group, what is the charge, and what dates are available?
Hi Chris,
If you click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button you’ll be directed to the County of San Diego camping reservation page. From there you select ‘William Heise’, enter a date and scroll down the available campsite list. The youth group campsites will show up at the end (screen shot below). The two you group campsites can have up to 50 people per site. However, youth group camping is not available online. You need to call to reserve at: 877-565-3600.
Site 43 at William Heise: is there room to park my car next to my 27 ft motorhome in this site?
Hi Arlene, Campsite #43 has a combined maximum vehicle length of 28 feet (although it does look longer). Unfortunately you would not be able to park your car along side (side-by-side) your RV as there isn’t enough room. And all wheels need to be on the paved parking surface.
I just reserved site #59. It says no hook up. I plan to camp in a tent. Is that allowed in that site or must tents be in tent only sites
Hi Scott,
You can pitch a tent in campsite #59.
Me and my dog are staying in a tent campsite, but my family is at the cabin area. I saw it said no dogs allowed inside cabin, but may me and my dog have meals outside of the cabin with my family?
Hi Chris,
Yes – you can have your dog outside of the cabin while you eat meals (outside). Dogs can not enter inside any cabin.
Hello,
I recently booked site 13 for my family. It’s an RV site, and we only have a tent, but we need the electric hook-up since we are traveling with our baby. But, our tent is rather large. Do you know how big the tent pad is, and what’s the largest tent it can accommodate?
Hi Avree,
I’d say the tent pad/camping area is about 12×15 feet, maybe a bit larger.
Can you see the milky way and how good can you see the stars i got a telescope and im hoping to see the milky way
Hi Kazuko,
Stargazing is quite good at William Heise County Park. You’ll be able to see the milky way with best viewing from 12am to 2:30am.
Hi – I am having a hard time seeing how many can sleep in each cabin. We have a reservation for cabin #2. Where can I find that info? THank you!
Hi Anne,
Each of the cabins at William Heise County Park can accommodate up to 6 people.
Are there any creeks within hiking distance where the kids can explore?
Hi Jewels,
There are not any creeks in the Park or within hiking distance (outside park). The closest reliable water source is Lake Cuyamaca Recreation Park (about 14 miles / 23 minute drive).
I’m in Site #10 which has water & electric hookups. Works out well ith my 24 foot long travel trailer.
Very nice campground. I’d pist a few pictures if that was an option.👍
