Willow Campground Inyo National Forest California

Willow Campground has 8 first-come, first-serve (primitive) campsites along the banks of the South Fork of Bishop Creek. Sites are shaded by pretty aspen trees at an elevation of about 9,000 feet. There are also some mighty fine fishing holes close to the campground.

The campground is usually open late May to mid-September. Amenities include a vault toilet and trash collection. Piped water is not available. Each site also has a table, food storage locker, fire pit and grill. Trailers and RVs not recommended.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, backpacking, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

You may also like Table Mountain GroupMountain Glen or Four Jeffrey campgrounds.

  1. I love your photos and information about the Willow Campground. It looks like a beautiful and peaceful place to camp. I like that it’s primitive and first-come, first-serve, which gives it a more natural and authentic feel. The aspen trees and the creek are so lovely. I’m curious about the fishing opportunities there.

      The South Fork of Bishop Creek near Willow Campground usually has some great fishing. You’ll catch mostly Brown Trout, which number about 1400 fish per mile and average about 8 inches.
