Cross Creek Campground Rio Grande National Forest Colorado

Cross Creek Overview

Cross Creek Campsite 006

Cross Creek campground is first-come, first-serve and has 12 campsites scattered on both sides of the creek just above the Beaver Reservoir inlet. Beaver Creek is also just across the road and offers more world-class fishing.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Chances are your campsite will be shaded with a beautiful Douglas Fir. Each campsite also has a table, fir ring and grill. The campground has vault toilets and drinking water. Firewood is not provided – so remember to bring a nice supply for the cool nights because you’ll be roasting marsh mellows at 8,800 feet. An RV dump station is also located at the  intersection of US Route 160 and State Route 149 in South Fork.

Cross Creek – Area Recreation

Fishing is fantastic in the area and other activities include mountain biking, hiking, picnicking, ATVing, horseback riding and hunting. Wildlife viewing is also good in the area and the Douglas fir are the biggest here in all the Rio Grande National Forest.

Highway Springs, Beaver Creek and Upper Beaver Creek are also campgrounds in the area.

If you’re heading east, you may also like Grand Sand Dunes National Park – Pinyon Flats Campground. San Luis Lakes State Wildlife Area is another option.
