Bear Lake Blackwater River State Forest Overview

Bear Lake Campground in Blackwater River State Forest has 40 spacious campsites that are near to the lake.   The campground is also within the Bear Lake Recreation Area and about an hour northeast of Pensacola, FL.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Campsites with water & electric hookups, and just electric hookups are available.  Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, a dump station and trash collection. There’s also a boat ramp, group dining hall with kitchen (reservation only), fishing pier and mixed-used trails. Cell service is fair in the area.

Bear Lake East Primitive Group Campground is also nearby. You might also like Blackwater River State Park or Coldwater Equestrian Campground.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, bird watching, photography and wildlife viewing. Canoe rentals are also available.
