7 Comments on “Gold Head Branch State Park”

  1. michael J maddage says:

Stayed in site 73, which was very level, but none of the trees shown in the picture are there. The entire back of our site had either been destroyed by a storm or just mowed down by the park. They do a LOT of controlled burns so the park looks unhealthy and not pretty at all.

  2. Klaramaria says:

I was there earlier this year and noticed they were cutting down century old healthy oak trees. Apparently from the email Kevin Patton sent me, “ The oaks and Sand Pines are offsite species and were removed to restore the Sand Hill ecosystem in areas where human activity has caused habitat degradation.” It was a shame. I loved walking under those old oak trees near the cabins.

  3. Gary Efaw says:

We stay for two weeks every year because of nearby family. Hard to get reservations because weekend families from Jacksonville tend to book every weekend. Weekdays are pretty quiet but the weekends can have kids running wild all over.

    • Thank you for sharing. We are retired and have our son and grand babies living with us and we get away once a month and love the quiet time! Safe camping!

  4. Jason Milbourne says:

My family have been camping here for almost14 years. We have always had a great time. Lots of good stories and fun memories. I would most defiantly recommend camping here.

  5. Lara Rienks says:

We stayed for a weekend in the Sandhill Loop. The site was nice, with a picnic table and fire ring (grate needed replacing). Florida State Parks are popular and hard to get into so you take what you can get (sometimes it works out😊😊)! I suspect we will stay here often.
