Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area Overview

Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area campground  has 37 campsites and is located in a beautiful mountain valley within the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. The campground is open year round and most of the campsites are spacious.

Some sites have electric hookups and each site has a picnic table, fire ring and grill. Group camping is available and there are also some cabins for rent. Our favorite Lake Winfield Scott campsites are: 5, 8, 11, 12, 21, 26, 27, 30, 34, 36 and 37.

Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and modern restrooms (flush toilets/showers). There’s also a boat ramp at the lake, dock, group pavilion, picnic area and playground. Cell service is not available in the area.

Area Recreation & Activities

The area offers families a wide variety of outdoor recreation activities including: camping, swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also nice here. Lake Winfield Scott has a swimming area, restroom, pavilions, playground and picnic tables.

Vogel State Park also has a beautiful campground with 103 campsites and is about 8 miles from Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area.
