Lake Powhatan Overview

Lake Powhatan Campground is open year-round and has 97 campsites in a heavily wooded setting near the lake.  There are 4 sites with water & electric hookups, 18 full hookup sites, 12 glamping sites and 7 ADA sites. All campsites are reservable during peak/summer season, but some are held for first-come, first-serve campers during off-season months. Check-in time starts at 2pm and check-out is 12pm.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, trash collection and a dump station. There’s also a picnic/day-use area, swim beach, overflow parking and a fishing pier. Ice and firewood are also available to purchase from the gatehouse/office. Generators are okay to use from 7am to 10pm. Cell service is poor in the area.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation includes fishing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, birding, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Personal watercraft is STRICTLY PROHIBITED in the lake due to potential introduction of foreign material to the Lake Powhatan riprarian ecosystem.
