William B. Umstead State Park has 28 campsites and is tucked between the growing cities of Raleigh, Cary, and Durham in a delightful, well-shaded hardwood forest. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Group camping is also available. Two primitive sites are also open year round for organizations and non profit groups.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers, laundry and a dump station.  There’s also picnic areas, hiking/biking trails, equestrian trails, visitor center and a few small fishing lakes.

The historic Maple Hill Lodge is also available for groups. Facilities include a fireplace, drinking water, fire ring, picnic tables and restrooms. The lodge can accommodate up to 25 people in one big open room. Campers must bring their own sleeping bags.

William B. Umstead State Park – Area Recreation

The Park has 5,570 acres and offers a variety of outdoor recreation. Visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, picnicking, swimming and wildlife viewing.
