Pine Valley Recreation Area Overview

Pine Valley Recreation Area has 6 campgrounds located in a beautiful valley surrounded by the Pine Valley Mountains. Pine Valley Reservoir and the Santa Clara River also are in the recreation area. Campgrounds generally open in early May and close early October.

Crackfoot Campground (Reservable)

Crackfoot has 24 campsites including 15 single-family (up to 8 people), 3 double-family sites (up to 16 people) and 5 walk-to sites. Amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. Trash collection is not available so please pack out.

Located near Pine Valley Wilderness this campground loop offers a variety of campsites that are shaded by large Ponderosa Pine trees.

Dean Gardner Campground (Reservable)

Dean Gardner has 24 campsites (21 single-family and 3 double-family) and is next to Pine Valley Reservoir. Most sites have great shade from large Ponderosa pine trees. Amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. Trash collection is not available so please pack out.

Ebenezer Bryce Campground (First-Come First-Serve)

The campground has 14 campsites (11 single-family and 3 double-family sites) and is located about a mile from Pine Valley Reservoir.  It also has great views of the Pine Valley Mountains. Amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. Trash collection is not available. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill.

Equestrian Campground (Reservable)

The Equestrian Campground has a parking loop with facilities specifically for horses. It is located about 3/4 mile from Pine Valley Reservoir. The campground has 16 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs (up to 105 feet). There are also 3 tent-only campsites. Amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. Trash collection is not available so please pack out.

Yellow Pine Campground (Reservable)

Yellow Pine has 6 campsites (5 single-family and 1 double-family) and is nestled within Ponderosa Pine trees. The Courtney Amphitheater and the Santa Clara River Trail access is also located near site #2. Amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. Trash collection is not available so please pack out.

Mitt Moody Campground (First Come First Serve)

Mitt Moody has 3 secluded campsites including 2 walk-to (tent only) and 1 double sites. It is on a hillside that overlooks a delightful stream. All items need to be packed in by foot via a short walking trail. Parking is limited to one vehicle per site. Amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. Trash collection is not available so please pack out.

Effie Beckstrom Group Area (Reservable)

All group sites, both overnight and day-use are available for reservations. The Effie Beckstrom area offers two overnight sites, accommodating 80 people each. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided.

Thomas Forsyth Day Use / Picnic Area (Reservable)

Thomas Forsyth day-use area offers four picnic areas for groups ranging in size from 35-150 people. This beautiful facility also contains large picnic tables, grills and campfire circles.

Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also great in the area.  Several trailheads including the Whipple, Equestrian, Brown’s Point, and Gardner Peak are located in the Pine Valley Recreation Area.

Other campgrounds in the area include Baker Dam (10 miles), Red Cliffs (11 miles) and Lava Point / Zion National Park (24 miles). You might also like Honeycomb Rocks Campground.
