Fort Flagler State Park Overview

Fort Flagler State Park includes 784 acres surrounded by a saltwater shoreline and is located on Marrowstone Island, WA. The marine camping park offers spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains, Cascade Mountains and Puget Sound. It also features many of the original military buildings used at historic Fort Flagler during the turn of the 20th century.

Amenities

Campground/park amenities include drinking water, restrooms (flush toilets), hot-water showers, trash collection and a dump station. There’s also a visit center, marina, boat ramp, picnic shelters, basketball court, playgrounds, sandy beaches, a cafe and kayak tours. Firewood is available to purchase from the camp host.

Campsites (Single-Family)

Camping is available to reservation 9 months in advance. Lower Beach Campground sites can be reserved from April 1 – October 31. Upper Forest Campground from May 1 – September 30. There are 114 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. Upper Forest Campground (sites 1-47) are dry (no hookups). Lower Beach Campground (sites 48-116) have full hookups.  Two walk-to campsites are also available in the Lower Beach Campground and “historic officers’ vacation houses” are also available to rent.

Camping (Group)

Two group camping areas are also available. The Scout Camp accommodates tents only and has a maximum occupancy of 40 people. There is a fire ring and one open-sided shelter.

The Wagon Wheel Camp accommodates both RVs and tents. It offers a covered picnic shelter and has a maximum occupancy of 100 people. There are two vault toilets and no hookups. Fees vary with size of the group.

Fort Flagler State Park Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation at the park includes beach combing, biking, hiking, boating, crabbing, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, scuba diving, swimming, paragliding and wildlife viewing. Visitors can also tour the historic buildings.
