Gold Basin Comments & Reviews
Visited Gold Basin Campground lately? We'd love to hear about your adventure. Did you find us useful? Did we forget something? Anything our community should know before heading out to Gold Basin?
This campsite has been CLOSED since May 2014, due to landslide danger from the surrounding hills. The area has a history of slides and is geologically similar to the hill that collapsed in Oso in March 2014, killing 43 people It’s now a “recreation area”. It’s not realistic to expect it to become a campsite again anytime soon. You should really take it off this list. Always check current campsite conditions by going to the official US forest service website. There you’ll see it’s “closed until further notice.”
Hi Eric,
Thanks for the heads on Gold Basin and a source to check status of campgrounds. We made a note on the Gold Basin campground page that the campground is closed and still under evaluation by the USFS (per the USFS site).
Gold Basin Campground on the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest is now open to walk in campers. Reservations are not available at this time. It opened this afternoon, July 3, 2019 at 4 pm. 48 sites are available for camping. Cost is $20.00 per single family site and $40.00 for double sites. The shower house is not open at this time.
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for the heads up on Gold Basin campground now being open for walk-in campers!
So Gold Basin is open to “walk ins” now? Does that mean tent campers only?
Hi Vicki,
Not sure if Gold Basin as walk-in (first-come, first-serve) campsites available now. The campground generally opens mid-May with reservations accepted early August through September.
Gold Basin campground is not open to the public. River banks are under construction at the moment. Talk of wanting to open next year 2023. There’s a lot to be done for that to happen. I doubt it.
Hi Rex,
Thanks for update on Gold Basin! We will post a message on the page.
